Last week I took a quick spin around the Cool Products Expo (CPX, for short) hosted at the Alumni Center. The exhibition showcased 51 newly developed products that aren’t yet on market. Products ranged from lid-guards for coffee cups to prosthetic knees to portable solar panels used to power cell phones. The website for the expo has a searchable list of all the companies that attended. http.cpx.stanford.edu. My favorite product was Anybot’s telepresence robot (QA).

Through remote operation of QA, one can communicate and physically interact with people in another location. Anybot’s product is an innovative solution to the static nature of video-conferencing. With QA, remote conferencing becomes mobile (you can move around the office while you do it) and whole lot more fun for both parties.

Here’s a video showing some of the functions of QA.  Pretty nifty.
