Card Game Reflection May 11, 2009

We lost. That pretty much sums it all up. Surprisingly I took the loss pretty hard. I’m an athlete, hence competition is in my blood, but I wasn’t upset that we lost, but more so the scheming of the other teams. Yes in the real world we ought to adapt to changes and expect the unexpected, but I considered the actions of some cheating. Our chips were stolen 😦 and others held out on our card type The process was emotionally draining as I saw the inherent deception going on.

However, there were valuable lessons to be learned. The way we interpret rules in any circumstance can be the difference between success and “failure.” Also, physical orientation or the environment in an office or industry can make a large difference in how efficient a company/industry is. And lastly, as evident by the winners and losers from the card game, collaboration lead to a better outcome than competition.
